Malaysia Josephine Pineapple

This exotic, tangy, and sweet Josephine pineapple comes from Malaysia. This pineapple has a distinct aroma, a beautiful colour and a delicious bittersweet taste. It is eaten fresh or used as an ingredient in juices, preserves, liqueurs and other products. It is recommended to eat it when you can smell the pineapple from the bottom or when the skin turns yellowish green.

STORAGE

Cut pineapples should be kept in the refrigerator. The fruit pieces will oxidise and turn brown, but they are still absolutely delicious. To prevent browning, spray the cut fruit with orange juice. The ascorbic acid in the juice is an antioxidant that helps the pineapple last a few days longer in the fridge.

FUN FACTS & TIPS

If you do not want to eat the pineapple immediately, place it on your kitchen counter. Over the next two or three days it will slowly turn golden. However, if a pineapple turns brown, you have stored it too long.
