Red Seedless Grapes

Red seedless grapes have a firm, crisp, and tart sweet flavour with a fantastic, refreshing bite and a mellow, neutral flavour. They are small to medium in size, round to slightly oblong form, and grow in medium to large clusters. The colour of these grapes varies greatly depending on the variety and growing conditions, but typically ranges from pale crimson to deep burgundy. There may be a dusty film on the thin skin, also known as bloom. This layer forms a natural waterproof barrier that prevents the fragile shell from peeling off.

STORAGE

In a perforated plastic bag, they will keep in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. They can also be frozen whole for up to a year.

Red seedless grapes are best used raw and are often eaten fresh. They can be used in fruit salads, smoothies, sorbets, sandwiches and as an accompaniment to green salads. As well as being eaten fresh, grapes can be roasted in curries, spread on toast with creamy cheeses or boiled down to make sauces, syrups and jams. They can also be used to make pies, cakes and flatbread. Seedless red grapes go well with salami, chicken and steak, but also with prawns, olives, rosemary, basil and mint, with cheeses such as Brie, Swiss cheese and Gruyère, and with vegetables such as Brussels sprouts, sweet potatoes, apples, walnuts and pecans.
