Green Whole Coconut

Young green coconuts are harvested before developing the distinctive brown, fibrous outer shell and white pulp within. They are picked for their high water content, as their coconut water tastes fairly sweet, clean, and pleasant, despite the fact that they do not yet contain edible pulp. Fresh coconut water can be consumed directly from the coconut shell or utilised in both cooked and raw recipes.

STORAGE

Fresh unopened coconut can be stored at room temperature for up to one month. If the coconut is opened, store the fresh coconut juice in a jar or air tight zip lock bag for up to 2-4 days or frozen for up to a few months.

FUN FACTS & TIPS

The most difficult coconut to crack open due to its smooth, green, and exceptionally hard external shell. Because some coconut liquid will undoubtedly spill during the first incision, you'll need to use the sharp corner of the large cleaver's blade to perform the first four incisions through the top of the coconut with some force. The objective is to cut a squarish hole in the coconut in order to reach the liquid within. If the cleaver doesn't penetrate through the husk on the first try, repeat the process until it does.
