Ecuador Passion Fruit

This variety of yellow passion fruit has the sweetest and least tart flavour, and the edible black seeds have a very satisfying crunch with subtle, nutty notes. Granadillas have a bright, slippery and tangy golden flesh with tropical and floral undertones. Some would say the flavour profile is similar to kiwis and melons. They are larger and more aromatic than the purple variety and overall are considered one of the tastiest passion fruits in the world.

STORAGE

When the granadilla is still slightly green and unripe, you can keep it on the counter until it is ripe. When it takes on an orange-yellow hue, it is ready to eat or store in the refrigerator. Note that when ripe, the skin remains smooth and does not wrinkle, unlike its purple counterpart.

To eat this delicacy quickly, cut the tough yellow outer skin down the middle with a sharp knife.
