Description
xThese organically grown Gala apples taste better from conventionally grown apples and are available all year long with a sweet aromatic flavour and a nice floral scent. Their flesh is rich, fine-textured creamy golden and very crunchy. The skin is thin and edible, making it simple to sink your teeth into it and to pierce into the juicy flesh. They're excellent for applesauce, salads, eating out of hand, and pressing into cider.
STORAGE
Gala apples do not last as well as other apples and should be stored in the refrigerator's bottom drawer. The best option is to use a perforated plastic bag, which allows some moisture to escape. They stay crisp for 4 to 6 weeks in the fridge, occasionally up to 2 months, before the quality starts to deteriorate.
FUN FACTS & TIPS
Gala apples, similarly to Rockit apples, are generally smaller in size than most other apple varieties which means they are great for kids and for snacking. They're also better eaten fresh because baking makes them rubbery, so don't turn these into pies!
