Blueberries

Regular blueberries are small, but when you bite into these little jewels, they are burst with flavours that pop on your tongue. Depending on their ripeness and variety, they give off a perfectly balanced flavour and texture that is neither too sweet nor too sour. They are also crisp and aromatic, with notes of grapes and flowers that leave you wanting more!

STORAGE

When you arrive home from the groceries, quickly sift through the blueberries to make sure none are mouldy. One rotten blueberry can damage the whole batch, so do not skip this step. Only rinse the blueberries if you are going to eat them immediately, as moisture encourages bacteria to develop. So make sure they are completely dry before placing them in the refrigerator for up to a week.

FUN FACTS & TIPS

You may be surprised to learn that the size of a blueberry has no effect on its sweetness or sourness. Alternatively, you can also examine the colour. The sweeter a blueberry is, the darker and bluer it is; the more acidic it is, the lighter it is. After the blueberry has been picked, it does not become sweeter, only softer. This is particularly annoying because blueberries ripen at different times and it is intuitive to harvest both ripe and unripe berries from the same bush.
