This custard apple is a hybrid of the sugar apple and the cherimoya, which is uniquely known for its deliciously sweet and creamy texture with a hint of vanilla custard-like flavour with a slight floral aroma. A highly sought-after and popular fruit because it literally tastes like dessert with all the healthy, beneficial nutrients!
When custard apples are ripe, they will give slightly when pressed lightly. If they are still hard, let them ripen at room temperature for a few days before indulging.
The easiest way to enjoy this tropical delicacy is to simply eat it raw by cutting the fruit in half. Scoop the semi-soft flesh directly from the shell with a spoon and discard the inedible seeds. Perfect for fruit salads, milkshakes, yoghurt, sorbet, smoothies, and even ice cream.
